Michael Mariot Given PURE Performance Pitcher Honors

The Minor League Sports Report and This Week in the Association announce that Cleburne Railroaders RHP Michael Mariot has been named as the PURE Performance Pitcher of the Week for Week 2 of the American Association season. Mariot finished the week 2-0 with a 0.69 ERA in two starts.

Mariot started the week with an impressive performance against the Lincoln Saltdogs, allowing one run on just one hit in seven innings on May 25, a 4-1 victory. The right-hander was dominant, as the only batter to reach through the first six innings was a second inning hit by pitch. Mariot maintained the no-hitter into the seventh, retiring the first batter of the inning, but Josh Altmann broke up the no-hit bid and the shutout, driving a 2-2 pitch for a homerun. Mariot went 7.0 innings, allowing one hit, one run, and no walks, while striking out five. Of his 102 pitches, 71 went for strikes.

On Sunday, Mariot dominated once again, shutting down the Kansas City Monarchs in a 7-0 victory. The right-hander allowed five hits and a walk, but no runs in six innings pitched. He struck out six. The right-hander threw 96 pitches, 58 for strikes.

For the week, Michael Mariot tossed 13.0 total innings, allowing six hitd, one walk, and one earned run, boasting an opponent batting average of .136 and a WHIP of 0.54.

For earning PURE Performance Pitcher of the Week, Michael Mariot will receive a check for $100 from PURE. He is the first Railroaders player to receive honors this season.
