DockHounds Rally Falls Short, Fall to Cougars in 10

OCONOMOWOC, WI – The Kane County Cougars won 5-4 over the Lake Country DockHounds in 10 innings in Oconomowoc on Thursday.
The Cougars began the ball game with a single from Ernie De La Trinidad. Sherman Johnson would be walked in the next at bat
After a sacrifice fly advanced De La Trinidad to third base, Steve Lombardozzi singled to drive in the first run of the day.
In the DockHounds half of the first inning, TJ Bennett singled and Gabriel Noriega doubled, driving in a run.
The scoring would continue in the fifth, when the Cougars led 2-1. Cornelius Randolph singled, which scored the run.
In the seventh inning, Lake Country tied it with a solo home run off the bat of Gio Brusa. The score was 2-2.
Lombardozzi doubled in the top half of the eighth and scored on a sacrifice fly by Josh Rolette.
Lamar Briggs singled the next half inning and was plated by a Bennett RBI single, to tie the game at three runs apiece.
For the second straight contest, the Cougars and DockHounds went the distance in extra innings. After a scary pitch that hit Jimmy
Kerrigan in the head, he ended up getting back up and scoring the go-ahead run alongside Randolph.
Lake Country would score one run in their half of the 10th, but fell short by one run. The final score was 5-4.
Logan Nissen was credited with the win in extra innings for the Cougars, and Cyrillo Watson was given his first loss of the season.
The DockHounds will go against the Kane County Cougars in Geneva, Illinois this Friday, May 27th. First pitch will be at 6:30 p.m.
