DockHounds Rally Falls Short in Lincoln

LINCOLN, NEB. – The Lincoln Saltdogs defeated the Lake Country DockHounds in a 6-4 battle in Lincoln Tuesday evening.
Lake Country got to work early, especially on the base paths. In the first inning, the DockHounds stole second and third to put two runners in scoring position. Gio Brusa scored Bennett off a 1-6-3 putout for out number two of the inning.
In the second, Tristen Carranza got on base with a double, and Lamar Briggs brought him to home plate to make the score 2-0 DockHounds.
Justin Byrd and JR DiSarcina smoked a pair of home runs in the next half inning, DiSarcina’s counting for two runs. The score sat 3-2 Saltdogs.
Josh Altmann singled in the third, scoring Randy Norris and advancing Ryan Long to second base. Welington Dotel grounded out to second but would score Long from third. Hunter Clanin would finish the inning with an RBI single, pushing the lead to 6-2.
In their half of the sixth, Lake Country chipped into the scoring column with an RBI double from Aaron Takacs, who drove in Gio Brusa.
The DockHounds attempted to rally in the ninth inning. Jake Snider drove in Wilfredo Gimenez on a single to center field. Noriega had a huge opportunity to drive in runners with two in scoring position, but struck out swinging to end the ball game, 6-4 Lincoln on top.
Duncan Snider took the loss, while the college product Zach Keenan was credited with the win for Lincoln. The DockHounds continue their road stretch against the Lincoln Saltdogs on Wednesday, June 15th at 7:05 p.m.
