Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks Infielder Manuel Boscan Named Player of the Week
On Monday, This Week in the Association and the Minor League Sports Report named Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks infielder Manuel Boscan as the American Association Player of the Week for Week 5 of the 2022 season. Boscan had an impressive week, hitting .400 with five homeruns and 13 RBI.
Boscan helped the RedHawks to an impressive week, going 5-1, including beginning the week with a three-game sweep of the Cleburne Railroaders. Boscan went a combined 5-13 with three runs, two doubles, a homerun, and two RBI in the series. He opened the week with back-to-back 1-4 performances against Cleburne, then went 3-5 with two runs scored, a homer, and two RBI in the closing contest of the series.
Next, Fargo-Moorhead moved on to Gary SouthShore, where Boscan had an incredibly impressive series, going 5-12, with five runs scored, four homers, and 11 RBI. It started in the opening contest of the series when the infielder went 4-5, blasting three home runs and driving in eight in the contest. He went 0-3 with a run scored the next evening, but closed out the series with his fifth homerun in four games, driving in three in the closing game of the series.
For the week, Manuel Boscan was 10-25 with eight runs scored, two doubles, five home runs, and 13 RBI. His five home runs and 13 RBI led the American Association. He also posted an impressive 1.080 slugging percentage and 1.544 OPS, both of which led the league.
Boscan began his professional career in the Cleveland Indians organization, playing four years before being released in 2013. In 2019, he made a comeback with the Milwaukee Milkmen, hitting .277 in 94 games. Two years later, the infielder/catcher was traded to the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks where he has become an absolute star. Boscan led the American Association in 2021, hitting .344, adding 72 runs, 63 RBIs, and seven homers in 91 games. This season he is hitting .323 with eight home runs and 36 runs driven in in 37 games.
Boscan becomes the second Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks player to be named American Association Player of the Week, joining infielder Drew Ward who earned the honor last week.
