Cody Mincey Given PURE Performance Pitcher Honors

The Minor League Sports Report and This Week in the Association announced that Kansas City Monarchs RHP Cody Mincey has been named the PURE Performance Pitcher of the Week for Week 6 of the 2021 American Association season. Mincey was brilliant in his two starts, allowing one total earned run in 12 innings pitched.

Mincey began the week in a pitchers’ duel against former Major Leaguer David Holmberg and the Milwaukee Milkmen has both starters allowed a single run in the second inning. Mincey finished with four hits and zero walks allowed, striking out five in five innings of work. The right-hander threw 65 pitches, 44 for strikes. He earned the no decision when Milwaukee scored a run in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Mincey returned to the hill on June 26, tossing seven shutout innings against the Lincoln Saltdogs. The right-hander was outstanding, allowing four hits and a walk in seven innings of work. He struck out seven, allowing no runs as he left the game with his team leading 4-0. However, the bullpen would fail him again, giving up five runs over the final two innings in the 5-4 loss to Lincoln. Mincey threw 96 pages, 62 went for strikes.

In his two starts, Cody Mincey allowed eight hits, a walk, and one earned run in 12.0 innings pitched. He struck out 12, posting a 0.75 ERA during the week. The right-hander posted an impressive .182 opponent batting average and a 0.75 WHIP.

For earning PURE Performance Pitcher of the Week, Cody Mincey will receive a check for $100 from PURE. Mincey became the first Kansas City Monarchs player to receive PURE Performance Player or Pitcher of the Week honors this season.
