Kansas City Monarchs Left-Hander Matt Hall Named Pitcher of the Week

On Monday, This Week in the Association and the Minor League Sports Report named Kansas City Monarchs left-hander Matt Hall as the American Association Pitcher of the Week for Week 9. Hall tossed six shutout innings in his return to the Monarchs.

With the American Association All-Star break occurring early last week, most teams only played three or four games. The Monarchs began the second half of the season with a contest against the Lake Country DockHounds, a 3-2 victory for the Monarchs.

Matt Hall had his contract purchased earlier in the season, but returned to Kansas City to provide a spectacular performance on Thursday. Hall allowed six hits and a walk while striking out seven in six shutout innings. While earning a no decision, he kept his team in this tight contest, allowing them to win late.

The left-hander allowed hits through each of the first four innings, but Lake Country was not able to solve Hall to get a runner across the plate. In the sixth, back-to-back singles put two on with no one out, but the Monarchs left-hander got out of the jam unscathed. He lowered his ERA to 1.06 and now has 42 strikeouts in 34 innings.

Matt Hall started out the season 4-1 for the Kansas City Monarchs before his contract was purchased by the San Francisco Giants. He appeared in two games for Sacramento (AAA) before his release. The left-hander has spent three seasons in the Major Leagues (2018-2020), appearing in 25 games.
