Lake Country DockHounds 1B Ryan Hernandez Named American Association Player of the Week

In today’s edition, This Week in the Association and the Minor League Sports Report name Lake Country DockHounds first baseman Ryan Hernandez as American Association Player of the Week for Week 7 of the 2024 season.
DockHounds 1B Ryan Hernandez Named Player of the Week
On Monday, This Week in the Association and the Minor League Sports Report Lake Country DockHounds first baseman Ryan Hernandez as the Player of the Week for Week 9 of the 2024 season. Hernandez had an impressive week, hitting .333 with six homers and 14 RBI.
The DockHounds took on the Cleburne Railroaders in all six games during the week, and Hernandez made the most of the series. He opened on Tuesday going 1-4, then had a huge game on Wednesday, homering three times and driving in eight in a three-hit performance. A night later, the first baseman homered twice and drove in three, going 2-4.
He only went 1-9 of the final three games, but his one hit was a home run. He hit that on Saturday while scoring twice and driving in two. He walked four times over the final three games of the series, including twice on Sunday.
For the week, Hernandez went 7-21 with seven runs scored, six home runs, and 14 RBI. He finished first in slugging (1.190) and second in OPS (1.618).
Ryan Hernandez signed with the Cleburne Railroaders in 2022 as an undrafted free agent and was an immediate hit, as his contract was purchased by Los Angeles Angels less than a month into the season, and he was sent to High-A Tri-City where the infielder hit .154 in 17 games. He returned to Cleburne, finishing out the season. Hernandez appeared in 41 total games, hitting .303 with seven home runs and 35 RBI. In the off-season, he was traded to the Lake Country DockHounds where he has been outstanding, hitting .327 in 51 games. His 16 home runs are tied for the league lead and he is second in RBI (52).
Hernandez is the second DockHounds player to be honored as Player of the Week. Josh Altmann earned the honors in Week 6.
