On Monday, This Week in the Association and the Minor League Sports Report Lake Country DockHounds infielder Curtis Terry as the Player of the Week for Week 13 of the 2024 season. Terry had a huge week, hitting .417 with four homers and 13 RBI.
The DockHounds began the week hosting the Gary SouthShore RailCats and Terry was fantastic, going a combined 4-12 with three runs scored, two homers and eight RBI. He started off the series right, going 2-4 with a home run and five RBI. He also scored twice and walked in the contest. The next night the infielder went 2-4, homering for the second straight night while driving in three. Terry went 0-4 in the final game of the series.
Next, Lake Country welcomed the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks and Terry continued to produce, going 6-12 with three runs scored, two homers, two doubles, and five RBI. He got off on the right foot once again, going 3-4 in the opener with a home run. In the second game, the DockHounds slugger went 1-4 with a double, then closed out the series with a 2-4 performance, hitting a home run and a double, scoring twice, and driving in four.
For the week, Terry was 10-24 with six runs scored. His four home runs were tied for the most last week and he led with 13 RBI. Terry was first in slugging (1.000) and second in OPS (1.440). More importantly, his team went 5-1 last week.
Curtis Terry was selected in the 13th round of the 2015 draft by the Texas Rangers. He remained in A-ball from 2015-2019, reaching High-A Down East (Carolina League) in 2019. The pandemic wiped out his 2020 season, but he returned ready to go, going to AAA-Round Rock where Terry had 22 homers and a .275 batting average in 99 games. That earned a call to the big club, where Terry spent 13 games. In 2022, he moved to the Minnesota Twins organization, spending the season at AAA-St. Paul where he hit .250 with 10 homers in 80 games.
In 2023, Terry signed with Gastonia (Atlantic League) and was there for 61 games before joining Lake Country. With the DockHounds, the infielder was a slugging machine, hitting 16 home runs in just 43 games. This season he returned to the Atlantic League, starting in Hagerstown where he had a .217 batting average and five homers in 48 games. Terry opted to leave Hagerstown and return to Lake Country where he has been a hitting machine, posting a .328 batting average and nine home runs in 30 games.
Terry is the third Lake Country player to be selected as Player of the Week this season. Josh Altmann was selected in Week 6 and Ryan Hernandez earned the honor in Week 9.
