Manoah, AirHogs Bullpen Combine to Blank Railroaders, 1-0
After a quiet night from both offenses, an 8th inning bases loaded sacrafise fly by Matt Dean would be all the scoring the AirHogs needed as they jumped ahead in the 8th and held on to win 1-0.
After last nights extra inning walkoff herorics the Hogs looked to take game 3 of the series against cross town rival Cleburne. Starter Eric Manoah Jr. was extremely successful for the AirHogs as he treated the Grand Prairie faithful to 7 innings of 3 hit shut out ball while striking out 8. Brett Eibner would follow in the 8th by throwing a scoreless inning of his own.
Cleburne Starter Jesus Sanchez dazzeled on the mound as well, throwing 7 shut out innings on 7 hits and 4 strikeouts. After exiting the game before the 8th, the AirHogs offense struck. After a single by Jonathan Moroney, Stewart Ijames also singled. After Javion Randle reachedsafely after a throw was made to 2nd base without a runner covering to load the bases, Matt Dean stepped to the plate and drove a sac fly to right to score the only run of the game.
After a walked batter by Brett Eibner to begin the 9th, Tyler Matzek entered the game and got each of the next three batters out to preserve the 1-0 victory, snapping a streak of 10 straight series won by the RailRoaders.
Game 4 of the series will be tomorrow as Travis Ballew looks to get the series victory and 7th straight home win for the AirHogs. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 P.M. in Grand Prairie.
