Martinez Leads Railroaders, McCullough, Gillaspie Homer, RailCats Pummel Goldeyes

Freidrich Blanks RedHawks
Christian Friedrich tossed eight shutout innings as the Chicago Dogs blanked the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks, 5-0. Friedrich allowed six hits and no walks while striking out five. Ryan Clark closed out the shutout with a scoreless inning of relief. T.J. Bennett led the way with two hits, including his eighth homerun of the season, and drove in three. Joey Terdoslavich had three hits.
Dylan Kelly had three of the eight hits that the RedHawks recorded on the evening. The catcher is now hitting .319.
Allison Sours Milkmen’s Evening
Ben Allison allowed one run in seven innings to lead the Kane County Cougars to a 3-2 victory over the Milwaukee Milkmen. Allison allowed four hits and two walks while striking out five. Andy McGuire came on to close out the contest by throwing the final two frames. Kane County scored two in the second thanks to a two-run double off the bat of B.J. Lopez. The team added a third run in the fifth, which proved to be the difference in the game.
Will Kengor had his second big night since joining Milwaukee, going 2-4, including hitting his fifth homerun of the season. Kengor drove in a pair of runs. Adam Brett Walker II was hit twice in the contest.
Martinez, Homers Power Railroaders to Victory
The Cleburne Railroaders hit five home runs, including two by Skyler Ewing in a 14-5 victory over the Lincoln Saltdogs. Ozzie Martinez got the team started with a two-run homer in the top of the first, driving in two of his six runs on the day. Hunter Clanin hit a two-run blast in the second and Martinez added a three-run double in the fourth to stake Cleburne to a 7-1 lead. The team expanded that to an 11-run edge in the fifth when they scored five runs. Ewing had the big blow, a grand slam, and Martinez added an RBI single. D.J. Peterson added a solo shot in the top of the sixth and Ewing added his second homerun in the ninth.
Justin Byrd hit his 14th homerun of the season for Lincoln. He drove in two runs, as did Ryan Long.

Gillaspie, McCullough Homer in Monarchs Victory
Casey Gillaspie hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the first inning and Morgan McCullough added a three-run shot in the fourth is the Kansas City Monarchs win on to defeat the Houston Apollos, 8-1. For Gillaspie, it was his 20th homerun of the season. Matt Hall got the start for Kansas City and tossed five shutout innings for the victory.
Blake Berry had three hits for Houston. Aaron Takacs scored the only run for the team.

RailCats Batter Goldeyes Again
For the second straight night, the Gary SouthShore RailCats put the wood to the Winnipeg Goldeyes, this time defeating Winnipeg 13-6. This came a night after downing the Goldeyes, 16-9. Raymond Jones went 3-5 with two runs and three RBI, including hitting two doubles on the evening. Michael Woodworth also had three hits and drove in a pair of runs. Alec Olud had a triple and drove in three. That was plenty enough support for Trevor Lubking, who allowed four runs in 8.2 innings to earn his fifth victory of the season.
Winnipeg was led by Sonny Ulliana who drove in a pair of runs. Austin Rei and Deon Stafford each had two hits and scored a run.

Canaries-Explorers Rained Out…Again
The double-header between the Sioux Falls Canaries and Sioux City Explorers was rained out. Friday’s contest, which was scheduled to be played first on Saturday will be played on Sunday as part of a double-header. Saturday’s regularly scheduled game will be played as part of a double-header in Sioux Falls on September 4.
