Milkmen Rally to Down Monarchs, Explorers Edge Saltdogs, Clemens, Hall Earn Honors

Milkmen Rally Against Monarchs Bullpen
The Milwaukee Milkmen found themselves trailing 6-4 entering the bottom of the seventh, but put up runs in the inning to earn a 12-7 victory over the Kansas City Monarchs. Kansas City jumped into a 5-1 lead, scoring two in the second and third innings, adding a run in the fourth. David Thompson hit a two-run blast in the third, his 16th of the year. However, Milwaukee got three of those runs back in the bottom of the fourth when Keon Barnum connected on second homerun of the day.
After extending the lead to two, the Monarchs turned to Brock Gilliam in the seventh and things went awry. Milwaukee sent 12 men to the plate in plating eight runs on seven hits. Correlle Prime and Barnum each added two run singles in the frame.
Barnum finished 3-4 with two homeruns, two runs scored and six RBI. Prime had two hits, scored two runs, and drove in two. Ben Holmes tossed two scoreless innings of relief to earn the victory. Thompson was 2-4 with two runs and three RBI for the Monarchs. J.C. Escarra was 2-2 with a run and two RBI.
Hedges, Explorers Clip Saltdogs
Zach Hedges allowed two runs in 6.0 innings to lead the Sioux City Explorers to a 4-2 victory over the Lincoln Saltdogs. Sioux City used a three run first inning to take command of this contest. Trey Martin drove home the first run with single and Ademar Rifaela followed with a two run double.
Matt Goodheart cut the deficit to one, driving home runs in the first and third innings, but Blake Tiberi put this game away with an RBI single in the seventh. Hedges went six innings, allowing seven hits. Brandon Brosher tossed two scoreless innings and Thomas McIlraith came on to record his 11th save of the season.
Greg Minier pitched well for Lincoln, allowing four runs in 7.0 innings. Goodheart finished with two hits and two RBI. Ryan Long and Welington Dotel each had two hits as well.
