Milkmen RHP Sebastian Rodriguez Named Pitcher of the Week

On Monday, This Week in the Association and the Minor League Sports Report named Milwaukee Milkmen right-hander Sebastian Rodriguez as the Pitcher of the Week for Week 14 of the 2024 season. Rodriguez dominated last week, tossing 16.0 scoreless innings in going 2-0.

Rodriguez got the week off right, tossing seven shutout innings in a 3-0 victory over the Kane County Cougars on Tuesday. The right-hander gave up a leadoff single in the bottom of the first, then retired the next eight batters and had retired the minimum through three. He gave up a single in fourth and fifth innings, and was only in trouble in the seventh when he gave up a walk and a single to start the frame. However, Rodriguez recorded a strikeout and then induced a double-play to end the threat. The righty allowed just four hits and a walk. He struck out 11, including at least one in every inning, striking out the side in the fifth.

On Sunday, the right-hander returned to the hill and he was spectacular, tossing a complete game shutout in a 4-0 victory over the Sioux Falls Canaries. Rodriguez allowed just one hit through the first six innings and finished by allowing just three hits and two walks overall. He struck out nine, throwing 121 pitches, 88 for strikes.

Rodriguez was 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA. He allowed seven hits and three walks while striking out 20 in 16.0 innings pitched. He recorded a .135 opponent batting average and a 0.63 WHIP.

Sebastian Rodriguez is in his first professional season. He played winter ball in Puerto Rico where he was 2-2 with a 2.63 ERA in 12 games. This season he signed with Milwaukee and has been great, going 9-4 with a 3.98 ERA in 14 starts and four relief appearances. Rodriguez has tossed 21 straight scoreless innings.
