Minier, Three-Run Frame Propels Saltdogs

LINCOLN, Nebraska – Ryan Long went 2-for-4 with an RBI double, Greg Minier tossed a quality start, and the Saltdogs evened the series with 5-3 win over the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks at Haymarket Park on Wednesday night.
Lincoln (35-42) opened the scoring on Hunter Clanin’s leadoff homer in the 3rd. Later in the inning, Jason Rogers had an RBI double and Josh Altmann an RBI single to make it 3-0.
The ‘Dogs added to the lead on Ryan Long’s RBI double in the 5th inning – extending his hitting streak to five.
Fargo-Moorhead (49-27) scored all three runs in the 6th. Peter Maris hit an RBI single before Leobaldo Pina’s run-scoring single made it 4-2. Manuel Boscan later cut the deficit to one run after scoring on a wild pitch.
Lincoln restored the multi-run lead with Welington Dotel’s RBI single in the 6th.
Greg Minier allowed three runs – two earned – over six innings. Matt Cronin allowed just one hit with two strikeouts across two relief innings, and Steffon Moore picked up his 10th save with a 1-2-3 9th inning.
The ‘Dogs have evened the series and are now 5-6 against the RedHawks with one game left in the season set.
The ‘Dogs and RedHawks conclude the three-game series on Thursday night. First pitch is scheduled at 7:05 p.m., and pregame coverage begins at 6:35 p.m. on ESPN Lincoln 101.5 FM/1480 AM.
