American Association Daily provides insights, features, and recaps of the action from around the American Association of Professional Baseball League, as well as player and coaching profiles and transactions. In today’s edition, Robert Pannier recaps the six games in the American Association on Tuesday, including the Kansas City Monarchs rallying to defeat the Sioux City Explorers, the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks used a seven run fourth to defeat the Lake Country DockHounds, and Ryan Long homered twice for the Lincoln Saltdogs in their victory. This and much more.
Bullard, Bullpen Propel Railroaders
Kody Bullard allowed one run in five innings and the bullpen tossed four scoreless frames as the Cleburne Railroaders defeated the Winnipeg Goldeyes, 3-1. This was a great pitcher’s duel between Bullard and Landen Bourassa.
Cleburne took the lead in the bottom of the second when Kacy Clemens, who had been acquired by the team earlier in the day, hit his first homerun of the season. Winnipeg tied the score in the top of the third on a single by Max Murphy, but it would be Railroaders from there. Hector Sanchez gave his team back the lead with an RBI single in the fourth and an RBI double by Chuck Taylor the bottom of the fifth closed out the scoring.
Brendan Bell, Danny Zardon, Kevin McCarthy, and Michael Krauza each came on to toss a scoreless frame. Krauza earned his first save of the season. Bourassa pitched very well for Winnipeg, allowing three runs on seven hits in 7.0 innings while striking out nine.

Long Homers Lead Saltdogs Comeback
The Lincoln Saltdogs found themselves trailing 3-1 entering the top of the third, but a three run third and a two run eighth helped propel the team to a 6-4 victory over the Sioux Falls Canaries. Ozzie Martinez had given the Canaries a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first when he connected on his fourth homerun of the season. The teams exchanged runs in the second, but Lincoln dominated from there.
In the top of the third, Ryan Long tied the score with his second homerun of the season, a two-run shot, and Justin Byrd added his seventh homerun of the year to give Lincoln the lead. Sioux Falls tied the score in the bottom half of the inning when Jabari Henry hit his 13th homer of the year. The score remained tied through the next four innings, but Long hit his second two-run homer of the game to give the Saltdogs the victory.
Long finished 2-4 with two runs scored and four RBI. Byrd had three hits and scored two runs. Carter Hope earned the victory, tossing 1.1 innings of scoreless relief and Steffon Moore earned the save with two scoreless innings. Martinez and Gavin LaValley each had three hits for the Canaries.
Five-Run Eighth Propels Monarchs
The Kansas City Monarchs erased a 6-3 deficit, scoring five runs in the bottom of the eighth to defeat the Sioux City Explorers, 8-6. Chase Harris led off the game with a homerun and Sioux City extended their lead to three on a two-run single by John Anthon in the top of the second. However, Kansas City began a comeback when Jan Hernandez hit his league leading 15th homerun of the year in the bottom of the second and the team tied the score with two runs in the third.
In the fifth, Sioux City began a streak of three straight innings where they scored a single run. Ademar Rifaela put his team back on top with an RBI double in the fifth, and Trey Martin homered to lead off the sixth. In the bottom of the eighth, Max Kuhns came on for Sioux City, and walked Matt Adams. David Thompson followed with his 13th homer of the year. Kuhns struck out the next two batters, but a walk to Pete Kozma kept the inning alive. J.C. Escarra followed with a triple to the wall, tying the score, and he came home on a Willie Abreu single. Kane County trailed 5-1 heading into the top of the fifth, and scored a run in the fifth and two in the sixth, but the RailCats matched them for runs in each of those two innings, thwarting any comeback.

Seven-Run Fourth Sends RedHawks Soaring
The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks scored two runs in the third, seven runs in the fourth, and three in the fifth to down the Lake Country DockHounds in a rain shortened affair, 13-5. Lake Country took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first on RBI singles by Gabriel Noriega and Aaron Takacs. Evan Alexander cut the deficit in half with his second homerun of the season in the top of the second and the RedHawks took the lead in the top of the third on back-to-back doubles by Drew Ward and Leobaldo Pina.
However, the DockHounds responded with three runs in the bottom of the third. Zion Pettigrew tied the score with an RBI double and he came home on a ground out by Noriega. Wilfredo Gimenez extended the lead to two with an RBI double. That sent the game to the fourth where Fargo took command of this game. The RedHawks sent 13 batters to the plate as five different players drove home runs in the frame. Pina tied the score with the bases loaded walk and John Silviano gave his team the lead when he drew a walk. Dogs Rally to Down Milkmen
The Chicago Dogs erased a 5-2 deficit, scoring three runs in the seventh then earning a walk-off victory on a bases loaded walk to K.C. Hobson in the bottom of the ninth to defeat the Milwaukee Milkmen, 6-5. Milwaukee had taken the lead, scoring two runs in the third and fourth innings. Dylan Kelly added a two-run single in the third and Logan Trowbridge hit a two-run homer in the fourth. Chicago cut the deficit in half on a Connor Kopach homerun in the bottom of the fourth, but Aaron Hill delivered an RBI double in the top of the fifth to give Milwaukee a three-run lead.
That lead look like it would hold, as A.J. Jones pitched well for the Milkmen, allowing two runs in 5.0 innings. However, Chicago tied the score in the bottom of the seventh against reliever Christian Young. Ryan Lidge drove home two with an RBI single and Hobson doubled to tie the score. That set up the ninth. A single and two walks loaded the bases for Hobson, who then reached base on five pitches to drive home the winning run.
Hobson, Lidge and Kopach each drove in two for the Dogs. Brian Schlitter earned the victory with 1.2 innings of scoreless relief. Hill had three hits for the Milkmen. Kelly also had three hits and drove in two.
