Preseason Updates: Fort Wayne Mad Ants
With the start of the NBA D-League season just a month away, here are a few updates about the Fort Wayne Mad Ants franchise.
- Pacers Sports and Entertainment, the organization that owns the NBA franchise Indiana Pacers, has acquired the Fort Wayne Mad Ants. The Mad Ants are now the official minor league affiliate of the Indiana Pacers and will no longer be affiliated with any other NBA team. All 19 NBA D-League franchises are now singly affiliated with an NBA franchise.
- Steve Gansey returns to the Mad Ants as their new head coach for the 2015-2016 season. Gansey started as a basketball intern with the Mad Ants and was an assistant coach for two seasons. He was an interim head coach during the 2011-2012 season, but returned to assistant coaching duties the following year. He spent last season as the Associate Head Coach of the Canton Charge as well as being in a support role for the Cleveland Cavaliers during their playoff run.
- Brian Levy has been named as the new General Manager of the Mad Ants. Levy was the Assistant General Manager for the Bakersfield Jam for the past three years, while also being a scout for the Phoenix Suns.
The Fort Wayne Mad Ants open the season against the newly formed Toronto Raptors D-League affiliate, Raptors 905, on November 14th at Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.
