OCONOMOWOC, WI. – The Cleburne Railroaders blasted five home runs in their 13-3 victory over Lake Country Saturday evening.
Cleburne scored right out of the gates with a two-run home run from Zach Nehrir. That would occur at the top of the first.
Lamar Briggs and TJ Bennett began the DockHounds’ half of the first with a pair of singles and were driven in by Gio Brusa with his RBI base hit.
After a passed ball advanced runners to second and third base in the third frame, the Railroaders scored two from the bat of Kacy Clemens. He knocked those two runners in with a single. The score was then 4-1, Cleburne leading.
In the fourth, Daikan Yoh would chip in to the lead with an RBI single, followed by a Zion Pettigrew knocking in a run as well. Lake Country trailed by one at this point.
Nehrir reached on an error when Brusa slipped trying to get the out at first and stole second right after. Clemens drove him in the next at-bat.
The contest would begin to favor Cleburne even more when Chase Simpson and Hector Sanchez smoked two homers. The ninth inning would produce six more runs to end the game 13-3, Railroaders taking game two.
Francisco Jimenez took the loss on the DockHounds’ side. He gave up four earned and eight hits through five innings.
The DockHounds will wrap up the series against the Cleburne Railroaders on Sunday afternoon, with the first pitch scheduled for 1:35 p.m. You can catch the game live on AAbaseball.tv, with the voice of the DockHounds, Sam Matheny, providing the play-by-play.
