Rain, RedHawks Dampen AirHogs Mood, 5-1
After an hour and a half rain delay to begin the game, AirHogs fans were treated to a pitching duel between Gan Quan and Luke Wilkins. The game was scoreless through the first three innings for both teams, Gan Quan went 5 innings allowing 2 runs and striking out 5 while Wilkins goes 5 innings on 1 runs and 3 strikeouts. The AirHogs ended up losing the game 5-1
Despite outhitting the RedHawks seven to five the AirHogs were only able to push across one run. The RedHawks would begin the scoring with a 2 RBI hit in the 4th by Brian Olsen. The AirHogs would cut the lead in half in the bottom half of the 5th as Yang Jin drove in Hang Xaio.
The game would quiet for a few innings until the Top of the 7th, when a ball just out of the reach of Lu Yuheng in centerfield became a leadoff double, then after a walk to Ahart Ryan Smith allowed a 3 run homerun to Chris Jacobs. That would be enough as RedHawks pitching would allow no runs for the last 5 innings.
The AirHogs have the chance to avoid the sweep tomorrow afternoon, as RHP Zhang Tao will face LHP Sebastian Kessay. The game is scheduled to start at 2:05 P.M. as it is “Bark in the Park” and “Family Night” at AirHogs Ballpark.
