Saltdogs Walk Way to Victory in 11 Innings, 4-3
GENEVA, Illinois – Tyler Anderson earned the win on his birthday, and the ‘Dogs held on for a 4-3 win in 11 innings at Northwestern Medicine Field on Wednesday night.
Anderson tossed two scoreless innings on his 28th birthday, and after back-to-back bases-loaded walks gave Lincoln a 4-2 lead in the 11th, James Pugliese worked around a run on two hits in the bottom-half and earned his fifth save of the year.
Keenan Bartlett tossed five shutout innings in a spot start, while David Vidal opened the scoring with a sacrifice fly in the 1st inning, and Zak Taylor extended the lead with a solo homer in the 6th.
Luis Roman’s sacrifice fly made it 2-1 in the 7th before Anfernee Seymour tied the game on an error in the 8th.
Justin Byrd tied the franchise record with four walks – the first time a Saltdog has walked four times since Chad Mozingo did so against Sioux City on Aug. 29, 2014. Josh Altmann extended his hitting streak to nine games, while Curt Smith had a single to extend his hitting streak to three.
Taylor had a multi-hit game for the first time this season and now has a season-best five-game streak.
