Patrick Ledet Given PURE Performance Pitcher Honors

The Minor League Sports Report and This Week in the Association announced that Sioux City Explorers LHP Patrick  Ledet has been named as PURE Performance Pitcher of the Week for Week 5 of the 2021 American Association season. Ledet allowed a single unearned run in a complete game victory over the Kane County Cougars in his only start of the week.

Kane County scored their only run of the game in the first inning when Anfernee Seymour reached on an error to lead off the inning, stole second, moved to third on a ground out, and scored on a ground out to give the Cougars a 1-0 lead.

From there, the left-hander took over. Ledet battled early on, giving up two hits in both the second and third innings, but got out of the frames unscathed each time. Ledet was very smart with his pitches, tossing 79 strikes out of the 117 total pitches he threw, walking just one batter while striking out seven. He allowed nine hits in the contest.

His outing was essential, as Scott Harkin was pitching a gem for Kane County as well. The Cougars starter tossed four shutout innings to open the contest, then gave up a run in the fifth and one in the seventh, one of which was unearned. It was a great start for Harkin, but he was simply outdueled by Ledet in what was, arguably, the best pitchers’ duel of the season.

For earning PURE Performance Pitcher of the Week, Patrick Ledet will receive a check for $100 from PURE. Ledet became the second Sioux City Explorers player to be honored this season. Jared Walker was named Player of the Week in Week 1 and Player of the Month for May.
