Six Run Frame Dooms AirHogs, 7-5
The AirHogs returned to Grand Prairie after a 9 game road trip to take on their Texas rival the Cleburne RailRoaders Friday night. Taylor Wright made his first start after 44 appearances and threw 5 shutout innings, including getting 2 inning ending double plays in the first 3 innings. Unfortunately a 6 run 6th inning hurt the ‘Hogs as they fall 7-5.
Li Ning put the AirHogs on the board first with a 3rd inning single that scored Javion Randle. Randle would help add another run later on with an RBI double that scored Luo Jinjun in the 5th inning.
The RailRoaders wouldn’t get on the board until the 6th. Ryan Smith entered the game in the 6th inning and was not able to record out as he allowed 6 runs. Chase Simpson hit a grand slam and John Nester would follow him the next batter with a solo homer.
The AirHogs had a rally brewing in the 6th as they had runners on second and third with one out, but on an almost sac fly, Jonathan Moroney was thrown out at 3rd base before Stewart Ijames could score.
John Nester would hit his second homer of the game in the top of the 8th inning to extend Cleburne’s lead. Jonathan Moroney would hit a 2 RBI triple in the Bottom of the 8th to cut the lead to two but that would be all for AirHogs scoring as Tyler Wilson would come in to get the save.
The AirHogs look to bounce back Saturday Night at 7:05 as they send RHP Gan Quan to the mound to take on RHP Eudis Idrogo. The game will be broadcasted live on BizTV 52.2, americanassociationbaseball.tv, and the Mixlr App.
