REX Sign Four Local Players for 2018 Season
Welcome to REX Nation, where you can learn the latest insights and moves with the Terre Haute Rex of the Prospect League. It today’s edition, Doug Hess discusses the four players – LHP Hunter Wolf, RHP Dalton Laney, 3B Zack Milan, and Jordan Schaffer – who were signed for the upcoming season.
Add Four to the REX
The Terre Haute REX signed brought in some quality talent with the signing of four new players for the 2018 season. They include LHP Hunter Wolf, RHP Dalton Laney, 3B Zack Milan, and Jordan Schaffer.
Hunter Wolf is a freshman left-handed pitcher for the Purdue Boilermakers. He made 11 appearances last season and had a season-high five strikeouts against Big Ten champion Nebraska. Hunter is from nearby Clay City, where he was First Team All-State his senior year when he lead the state with 142 strikeouts in 73-1/3 innings.
Dalton Laney is a right-handed freshman for the Indiana State Sycamores. Dalton did not see any action in 2017, however, for this past season with the Sycamores, he did make eight appearances with a 7.53 ERA. While attending nearby Rockville High School, Dalton was a three-year letter winner and he helped lead the team to a 2015 state championship and a runner-up finish in 2014.
Zack Milam played third base for the Ball State Cardinals for the past three season. Zack had a .159 average. and hit a home run this season for the Cardinals. While attending Terre Haute North, he lettered three years for the Patriots and helped them win back-to-back sectional titles.
Jordan Schaffer was redshirted in 2017 and in 2018. Jordan had 12 AB with a .167 average. While attending West Vigo High School, Jordan was a four-year letter winner and he helped with a pair of sectional championships.
These four local players will be great for the REX Nation this season.
