In today’s edition, This Week in the Association and the Minor League Sports Report name Winnipeg Goldeyes right-hander Zac Reininger as the Pitcher of the Week for Week 13 of the 2024 American Association season.

Goldeyes RHP Zac Reininger Named Pitcher of the Week

On Monday, This Week in the Association and the Minor League Sports Report named Winnipeg Goldeyes right-hander Zac Reininger as the Pitcher of the Week for Week 13 of the 2024 season. Reininger tossed seven shut out innings in his one appearance of the week.

Reininger made his one start of the week on August 2, holding the Sioux Falls Canaries to four hits and two walks in an 8-2 victory. Two runners reached in only one frame, the second, when the right-hander hit the leadoff batter and then gave up a one-out walk. However, he induced a double-play to end the threat. Reininger threw 102 pitches, striking out two.

Zac Reininger was selected in the eighth round of the 2013 draft by the Detroit Tigers. He moved up the Tigers system quickly, reaching AAA-Toledo in 2017. That same season he pitched in 10 games for the Tigers. He returned to Detroit in both 2018 and 2019, appearing in 53 combined games.

Reininger moved to the Oakland Athletics organization in 2021. He joined the Cleburne Railroaders for five starts in 2022 before taking 2023 off. This season, the right-hander is 7-4 for the Goldeyes, posting a 3.92 ERA in 14 starts. He is 4-1 in his last five decisions.

This is the fourth time this season that a Goldeyes pitcher has earned Pitcher of the Week honors. Joey Matulovich has received the honors three times (Weeks 5, 11, and 12).
