Dogs Take Series, Green, Davis Win Weekly Honors

Game Recaps for Monday
Six Run Fifth Pushes Dogs to Victory
The Chicago Dogs scored six in the fifth and three in the sixth to lead them to an 11-5 victory over the Kansas City Monarchs. That gave Chicago the victory in the series, as they took two of the three games. Every player in the Chicago lineup but one had at least one hit and scored and least one run.
The game was tied at one entering the bottom of the fifth when the Dogs scored fix runs on four hits, sending nine men to the plate. Luke Mangieri had a two-run single and Matt Bottcher hit a three-run homer in the frame. An inning later, the Dogs added three more runs to make it 10-2. Kansas City scored three runs over the final two frames to pull within six but got no closer.
Nick Green earned the victory, allowing two runs in six innings. Mangieri and Bottcher each had three hits with Bottcher driving in three. Mangieri, Donivan Williams, and Ben Livorsi each drove in two. Micker Adolfo and Keon Broxton each scored two runs for the Monarchs.

This Week in the Association and the Minor League Sports Report named their Player and Pitcher of the Week for Week 6 on Monday. Chicago Dogs RHP Nick Green was selected as the top pitcher, while Kane County Cougars OF Jonah Davis was chosen as the top player. The American Association selected Sioux Falls Canaries OF/1B Mike Hart as the Player of the Week and Gary SouthShore RailCats RHP Chris Erwin as the top pitcher.
