Hobson Homers Twice, Smith Shines for Milkmen, PURE Performance Honorees

In today’s edition, Robert Pannier recaps a light day in the American Association as the Milwaukee Milkmen score early to defeat the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks and the Chicago Dogs outslugged the Sioux City Explorers. Plus, the PURE Performance Player and Pitcher of the Week are named.
Dogs Outslug Explores
The Chicago Dogs hit six homeruns, including two by K.C. Hobson to defeat the Sioux City Explorers 12-6. Chicago scored runs in each of the first four frames, and put this game away with a five run seventh. Hobson finished with three runs driven and Johnny Adams, Grant Kay, Anfernee Grier, and Harrison Smith also went deep for Chicago. Kay and Smith each finished with three runs driven in as well.
José Sermo remains red-hot for Sioux City, hitting his seventh homerun of the year. Chase Harris also went deep. The loss snapped a four-game winning streak for Sioux City.
Smith Shines in Milkmen Victory
Myles Smith allowed one unearned run in five innings as the Milwaukee Milkmen defeated the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks in a rain shortened affair, 4-1. Smith allowed six hits and two walks while striking out six, lowering his ERA to 0.86.
Milwaukee scored all of their runs in the top of the first inning, as David Washington gave the team the lead with an RBI single and Christian Correa followed with a three-run homer, his third of the season. Correlle Prime drove home the lone run for the RedHawks. Prime finished with two hits as did Manuel Boscan.
