Milkmen IF Bryan Torres Named Player of the Week

On Monday, This Week in the Association and the Minor League Sports Report named Milwaukee Milkmen infielder Bryan Torres as the Player of the Week for Week 5 of the 2023 American Association season. Torres had an impressive week, hitting 526 in six games.

Torres got off to a fast start, going 5-9 with three runs scored and three walks in the three game set with the Kane County Cougars. In the opener, Torres went 2-3, then went 2-2 with a run cored and two walks. He closed the series with a 1-4 performance, scoring twice while drawing his third walk of the week. The Milkmen took two of the three games.

The Milkmen then welcomed the Sioux City Explorers and Torres helped Milwaukee earn a sweep, going 5-10 with four runs scored and three RBI. In the series opener, the Milwaukee infielder was the catalyst, going 3-3 with two runs scored and two RBI in a 5-2 victory. He then went 1-3 with two runs scored and two walks in a come-from-behind, walk-off victory on Saturday and closed the series with a 1-4 performance, driving in his third run of the week.

For the week, Torres led the American Association in hitting (.526), going 10-19. He had at least one hit in all six games. Torres also finished first in most runs scored (7) and his .640 on-base percentage was tops.

Bryan Torres was signed by the Milwaukee Brewers as an undrafted free agent in 2015 at the age of 17. He spent five seasons with the club and then joined the San Francisco Giants in 2021 where he played 43 games at AA-Richmond. In 2022, Torres joined the Milkmen, hitting .374 with 73 runs scored in 93 games. this season he is off to an another fast start, hitting .379 in 26 games with 25 runs scored and 13 RBI.
